Words of Wisdom from Austin Camacho
I was tooling through my emails when I came across author Austin Camacho's latest newsletter. He had a great opening, and I wanted to share it with you, because I think sometimes we get stuck in a mental rut on the final product, rather than focusing on what we need to do to get to it.
Saturday I talked with a few people who mentioned their stunted desire to be a novelist. Actually, I believe that in most of these cases these people dreamed of being a person who HAD WRITTEN a novel, rather than wanting to actually go through the processes of writing one. In each case I told them that the magic happens only when you sit down and live the experience.
There's no point wishing for an accomplishment without accepting the effort that goes with it. As Huckleberry Finn said, "Remember, you can't pray a lie."

Take some time to internalize. Is this you? Do you want to be a dreamer, or do you want to be a doer? Are you really a writer, or do you just like to talk the craft?

Thank you, Angela. I am flattered that you thought enough of my ramblings to share them with your readers. It kills me when people who can squeeze in 18 holes on the weekend or hit the clubs twice a week tell me they don't have time to write. We always have time for what is important to us. Your closing is all we need to hear from time to time. Write now.
